CEB+employee+drowned+after+being+swept+away+by+sea+wave

An employee of the Ceylon Electricity Board died this afternoon after being swept away by a wave while bathing in the sea behind a tourist hotel in the Aluthgama police area.


The deceased, a 45-year-old resident of Mahadeniya, Napawala, Getahattha.


Police note that he worked as a semi-skilled technician at the Ceylon Electricity Board.


The individual was bathing in the sea with a group of people when a wave swept him away.


The rest of the group subsequently searched for him and located his body floating in the sea near the shoreline before bringing it to the beach.


The Aluthgama Police Station is conducting further investigations into the incident.
