Maserati unveiled revamped versions of its GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale models ahead of a critical capital markets day in December aimed at setting a new course for the struggling luxury brand. Stellantis Chief Executive Officer Antonio Filosa outlined the business plan, stating that the automaker planned to strengthen the future of Maserati as a pure luxury brand, with the strategy including two new large-sized vehicles. The updated vehicle lineup boasts extended electric vehicle ranges alongside an upgraded 590 horsepower six-cylinder engine for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, while a six-cylinder engine will now be available on all petrol versions of the Grecale. Future manufacturing plans also include a brand-new version of the Grecale SUV scheduled for release in 2027.
The French-Italian parent group Stellantis entered talks regarding long-term plans with two important external partners capable of bringing technology, development, and excellent ideas to the luxury marque. Maserati Chief Santo Ficili confirmed during an online presentation that the company actively sought excellence in electronic architecture and specific parts supply, though he explicitly ruled out any potential partnerships with Jaguar Land Rover or Tata Motors. Antonio Filosa also firmly dismissed recent speculation regarding a possible sale of the brand to China's BYD, declaring that Maserati definitely remained off the market despite its persisting financial struggles. The luxury vehicle manufacturer shipped fewer than 8,000 cars last year, culminating in an adjusted operating loss of nearly two hundred million euros.
