Next year will be the year corrupt individuals and thieves who defrauded public funds are jailed, says Deputy Minister T. B. Sarath.

The Deputy Minister mentioned that legal action started against large-scale financial frauds that occurred during previous governments.

Expressing further views, Deputy Minister T. B. Sarath stated:

"Taking two salaries means they are not a baby, these are the money of the people of the country. The prison is what should be rightfully given to those who committed thefts like this."

The Deputy Minister pointed out that these arrests are by no means personal vendettas, and that they are all processes taking place legally within the legal framework.

Expressing views on individuals currently out on bail, he stated that although granting bail until trials conclude is a normal process, new courts are established now and trials are expedited, so the corrupt will not be able to escape the law.

"Thieves know how they stole, that is why they scream ahead of time in front of the people," the Deputy Minister further stated.
