A 40-year-old resident of Diyagama, Galpatha and his 36-year-old wife were released on bail in this manner.
A team of officers led by Anguruwatota Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Asanka Rajakaruna raided this house the day before yesterday (27) at around 3:30 pm on the instructions and orders of Kalutara District Deputy Inspector General Padmini Weerasuriya, and an argument arose, during which they obstructed the duties of the police officers, released 08 dogs that were in the house, and subjected the police officers to dog bites, the police stated before the court.
Anguruwatota Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Asanka Rajakaruna and Police Constable (99625) Manoj Abeykoon, who were subjected to dog bites, were admitted to the Kalutara Nagoda Teaching Hospital, received treatment, and left, while Inspector Sudheera and Constable (83935) Krishantha sustained minor injuries, the police presented facts to the court.
The suspect couple arrested after this incident surrendered to the South Kalutara Police along with 1000 millilitres of kasippu.
South Kalutara Police Sub-Inspector Bandara presented the complaint here, while lawyer Bandula Weerasinghe appeared for the suspect couple.
The court, considering the facts presented, granted bail to the suspects and postponed the further examination of this until July 10.
