The Several Department of Meteorology forecasts showers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ampara and Monaragala districts after 2:00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail in the rest of the island.
Fairly strong winds of about 40 to 50 kilometres per hour, blowing at times, can be expected on the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, Central, and North-Western provinces, and in the Ratnapura, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.
The department kindly requested the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that can accompany thundershowers.
