New appointments will be presented to 1,444 individuals across 14 fields in four professional categories of the health service, according to the Ministry of Health.

The special ceremony, presided by Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, will be held on August 01 at 9 a.m. at the Temple Trees conference hall.

The new appointment are presented aligning with government initiatives to strengthen human resources in the free health service, according to the Ministry of Health.

Professional groups receiving appointments comprise non-technical management assistants, primary skilled services, primary semi-skilled services, and primary non-skilled services.

More details of the new appointments:
Non-technical management assistant category: Medical supply assistants (6), ward clerks (50), and housekeepers (37)
Primary skilled service category: Health drivers (7) and hospital overseers (121)
Primary semi-skilled service category: Holiday bungalow keepers (3), forklift operators (7), barbers (1), orthopedic technical assistants (37), plumbers (31), sewing operators (64), and cooks (144)
Primary non-skilled service category: Health service assistants (651) and field mosquito eradication assistants (285)

Ministry of Health Secretary Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe and Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena will be attending the event.
