All academic activities at the University of Peradeniya were suspended until further notice considering the prevailing severe adverse weather conditions, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya stated.

Accordingly, all academic activities including lectures, examinations, and practical classes scheduled to be held in all faculties of the university were suspended with immediate effect.

Steps were taken to evacuate students on the ground floor of the Sarasavi Medura hostel this morning (03) in the face of heavy rainfall affecting the country, the threat of the Mahaweli River overflowing, and the risk of landslides.
