Ninety distinguished personalities will be awarded National Honours for their noble service to the country at a ceremony will be held this evening at Nelum Pokuna theatre under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The National honours ceremony is being held after 12 years.
The Highest award the Sri Lanka Abhimanaya will be conferred to the late Maestro, Dr Pandit Aamaradewa.
National honours Sri Lanka Ranjana; which is considered the second highest honour, awarded to non-nationals for distinguished service to Sri Lanka of a highly meritorious nature will also be presented at this ceremony.
Those selected were chosen from 426 applications received and the nominations were inspected by an intellectual panel.
According to the National Honours Act 1986, the list of awardees will be gazetted.
