A lawyer representing the family of arrested vocalist Amal Perera and his son Nadimal Perera is scheduled to leave for Dubai to appear for the father and the son who are currently in remand there.
The brother of Amal Perera, Sohan Perera told our news team that their lawyer will reach Dubai tomorrow.
Meanwhile, police stated that the public is providing vital information about the close associates of Madush after the latter was arrested in Dubai.
A senior officer in charge of the investigations told our news team that certain members of organized criminal groups are relocating to Colombo in the face of the ongoing operations against such groups in the south.
At the same time, Hambantota Magistrate Nalaka Sanjeeva Jayasuriya permitted police today to detain and question a close associate of Makandure Madush, Asela Eranga for 7 days.
He was arrested recently along with a T56 and 20 live bullets at Suriyawewa.
In addition, another suspect, Nalaka Susantha who was arrested on the information provided by Asela Eranga was remanded by the magistrate until February 22.
Police stated that both suspects contributed to organize the funeral of criminal gang leader, Makandure Madush’s father.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Dubai police have confirmed that Nadimal Perera has not taken any type of narcotics at the time of the arrest.
Attorney-at-law Udul Premarathna who is currently in Dubai to appear for Amal and Nadimal told our news team that he produced evidence to prove that Amal and Nadimal are popular vocalists in Sri Lanka.
He further said that the songs sung by the two vocalists were played on the Internet in front of the Dubai police.
