President Maithripala Sirisena will declare open the new building of the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters Built with state-of-the-art facilities today.
The foundation stone was laid on March 11th, 2011 for the new building of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces Headquarters on a 77 acre land in Akuregoda, Pelawatta, with the objective of placing Army, Navy and Air Forces Headquarters at one location.
The estimated cost of the project was 53.3 billion rupees and it was the largest state building construction project in Sri Lanka's history.
The building is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology and armed with latest hi-tech security systems.
