The Ministry of Trade has taken steps to provide 27 essential consumer goods to consumers at fixed prices from today (08). The agreement was reached with traders to keep the prices of 27 essential commodities stable from February to June.
Accordingly, red rice (kekulu), white rice (kekulu), white nadu, samba, curry samba, wheat flour, white sugar, brown sugar, tea, red lentils, big onion (Indian), local potatoes, peas, dried chillies and several other items will be sold at fixed prices.
In addition, there are types of local canned fish, imported canned fish, sprats (Thai), skinned chicken, salt, milk powder, soybean oil, laundry soap, scented soap, hand washing liquid and mouthwash will be maintained at a stable price.
The prices in this agreement can be changed only if the exchange rate changes or the government imposes taxes on these goods.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that these items are sold only through Lanka Sathosa, Cooperatives and Q shop.
