The Cabinet of Ministers has granted the approval of the proposal to appoint a Steering Committee for project planning to direct and implement the modernization activities of the Police.
The Minister of Public Security presented this proposal to the Cabinet.
This proposal was submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers with the recognition of the need to modernize the Sri Lanka Police by changing the existing traditional methods.
Accordingly, the need to make the traffic handling process effective and efficient was identified and priority was given to make the work of the Police Traffic and Road Safety Division more efficient by introducing digitization solutions to reduce traffic congestion in urban areas.
