A special discussion was held yesterday between Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa and Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaard Cabraal regarding the problem of obtaining essential raw materials for industries due to the import restrictions.
The Ministry of Industry stated that issues pertaining to the removal of import restrictions in June and the opening of letters of credit to those industrialists in importing essential raw materials for industries were also discussed at this meeting.
The Ministry of Industries also requested that the import restrictions imposed on several other industries, including the metal-based industry, be lifted, and a review be made and agreed upon.
