Sri Lanka State Literary Awards 2023 to honour literary excellence and Lifetime Achievement

The State Literary Awards Ceremony for 2023 is scheduled to take place on September 14 at 2:00 pm at the Elphinstone Theatre in Maradana. The event will be held under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and will have the participation of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickremanayake.

During the ceremony, the prestigious Sahityaratna Lifetime Award will be presented to Emeritus Prof. Sunanda Mahendra, K. Sattanathan, and Prof. Gerald Peiris for their significant contributions to the field of literature.

The State Literary Awards aim to recognize exceptional literary works and honor literary figures who have made valuable contributions to the Sri Lankan literary landscape. The event is jointly organized by the Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Sri Lanka Arts Council, and the State Literary Advisory Council. A total of 41 State Literary Awards will be presented across 19 categories.
