Colombo, Sri Lanka – The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has received more than 36,900 power breakdown reports over the past three days, affecting over 300,000 consumers due to severe weather conditions.
Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekara, announced that additional service staff have been deployed to address the breakdowns. He assured the public via a post on 'X' (formerly Twitter) that CEB management and service teams are working around the clock to restore power to affected consumers.
In his message, Wijesekara emphasized alternative methods for reporting power interruptions. If consumers are unable to reach the CEB hotline at 1987, they can send an SMS with their breakdown details and electricity consumer number to the same number. Additionally, reports can be made using the CEB Care app or through the website cebcare.ceb.lk.
The Minister's statement highlights the ongoing efforts to manage the disruptions and ensure that power is restored as quickly as possible, demonstrating the commitment of the CEB to maintaining reliable service despite the challenging weather conditions.
