Sri Lanka recorded its one millionth visitor for the year on May 25, marking a significant milestone for the island nation's tourism sector.
According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 1,006,097 tourists visited the country between January 1 and May 25 this year.
In the first 25 days of May alone, Sri Lanka recorded 109,213 tourist arrivals.
India continues to be the leading source market, contributing 39,070 arrivals during this period.
Other significant contributors to May's tourist figures include the United Kingdom with 7,661 arrivals, China with 7,139, Germany with 6,143, and Bangladesh with 5,637.
Australia saw 4,917 tourists, followed by France with 4,660, the USA with 2,959, Russia with 2,950, and Canada with 2,783 arrivals.
