A Gazette notification outlining regulations for devotees attending the historic Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya Esala Perahera is expected to be issued soon by Monaragala District Secretary R.M.P.S.B. Rathnayake.
The District Secretary stated that no permanent or temporary buildings or shops should be constructed within the camp area during the Esala festival period without written permission from the District Secretary or an authorised officer.
The Gazette notice will also include regulations concerning activities such as bathing in the Menik River, parking vehicles, and trading.
The District Secretary has urged the public to adhere to these regulations within the sacred area to ensure that the Esala festival proceeds without inconvenience to anyone.
