Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) announced that effective from 17 October, passengers departing from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will be permitted to check in up to four hours prior to their scheduled departure time.
The new measure aims to enhance the overall travel experience, reduce congestion, and ensure a smoother passenger flow within the terminal—particularly during peak hours.
In line with this initiative, the AASL has also established temporary makeshift check-in counters to accommodate the increased number of early-arriving passengers and to minimize waiting times, especially during the upcoming seasonal travel rush.
AASL noted that the move is part of its ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and passenger convenience as travel volumes continue to rise.
