Main Line services delayed

Rail passengers are facing significant disruption this morning (21), with main line train services experiencing delays and cancellations due to multiple incidents.

The most critical information is that a signal failure near the Hunupitiya railway station has caused delays to main line operations.

Furthermore, main line travel has been restricted to Rambukkana following a train derailment coupled with a landslide near the Ihalakotte railway station.

These combined issues have also led to the cancellation of certain scheduled services.

Specifically, the Department of Railways stated that the 'slow train' from Colombo Fort to Chilaw, originally scheduled for 9:35 a.m. today (21), will not run.

Consequently, the corresponding return 'slow train' from Chilaw to Colombo Fort at 12:40 p.m. has also been cancelled.
