Rain expected across the island

Rainfall in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces of the island can be expected to increase in the coming days.

Occasional rain showers may occur in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces today (13).

In the remaining areas of the island, rain or thundershowers are expected after 1:00 PM.

Furthermore, moderately heavy rainfall, exceeding 75 mm in some places, is possible in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

A misty condition can prevail during the early morning in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces, and the Ampara district.

The Department of Meteorology advised the public to take necessary steps to minimize the dangers that can arise from temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
