National People’s Power Member of Parliament and former Speaker Ashoka Sapumal Ranwala, who was receiving treatment at the Kiribathgoda Hospital after sustaining injuries in a crash in the Sapugaskanda Police Division last night (11), was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, according to hospital sources.
A hospital spokesperson said that he is receiving treatment in Ward No. 72.
The police stated that MP Ranwala's jeep struck the rear of a motorcycle travelling ahead of it near Denimulla junction on the road running from Galwala junction to Power House.
The police said that as the Member of Parliament moved the jeep to the right side of the road, it collided with a car coming from the opposite direction, causing the crash. Two women and a six-month-old infant in the motor car were injured and hospitalised.
The motorcyclist and the driver of the motor car did not sustain injuries in the collision.
The Sapugaskanda Police are conducting investigations.
