Evacuation orders for several areas in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts remain in effect until 12:00 PM tomorrow (8).
The National Building Research Institute (NBRI) announced that the Level 3 (Red) landslide warning applies specifically to the Ududumbara divisional secretariat division in the Kandy district, as well as the Nildandahinna and Walapane divisions in the Nuwara Eliya district.
Meanwhile, a depression currently located in the Southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a deep depression within the next 24 hours.
The Department of Meteorology expects this system to trigger increased rainfall across the North, North-Central, East, Uva, and Central provinces starting tomorrow.
