Marking a red-letter day for the local aviation sector, the first Automated Border Control (ABC) e-gates were installed today at Bandaranaike International Airport arrival terminal.
The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation in collaboration with IOM Sri Lanka and the Maldives, with the support of the Government of Japan, to enhance border security and strengthen infectious disease response capacity.
The automated e-gates are designed to deliver faster and safer immigration clearance, ensuring a more seamless and efficient arrival experience for passengers.
