Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa met for a discussion yesterday evening. The encounter took place at a hotel in Piliyandala during the wedding of former MP Saman Rathnapriya's son.
Both leaders received invitations to the event and were assigned to the same table. Before joining the former President, Sajith Premadasa sat with a group including Sagala Ratnayaka and Manusha Nanayakkara. Observing this, Ranil Wickremesinghe approached their table and jokingly remarked, "Come to the other table once you finish talking with your friends."
Manusha Nanayakkara also joined in the banter, telling Sajith, "The person waiting to meet you is over there; go quickly."
After spending some time with the former ministers, Sajith joined the table where UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena, Rajitha Senaratne, Mano Ganesan, and Digambaran sat. During the gathering, Lakshman Fonseka brought Thalatha Atukorale to the group, insisting she sit next to Sajith.
The two leaders engaged in conversation for nearly an hour, with other attendees joining in to discuss the current political landscape and future strategies.
