The National Building Research Insititute (NBRI) has lifted the Level 3 (Red) landslide evacuation warnings previously issued for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kandy and Matale districts. The decision comes as rainfall intensities in those specific areas have begun to subside.
However, the organisation stated that Level 2 (Amber) warnings remain in effect for eight districts across the island.
Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant as the ground remains saturated, posing a continued risk of landslides and slope failures despite the reduction in alert levels.
