The burnt body of a man was discovered yesterday (26) afternoon in a paddy field in the Basliyadda area, within the Bemmulla police division.
Bemmulla Police initiated an investigation following a report received by the station. Police identified the deceased as a 76-year-old resident of the Bemmulla area.
The magisterial inquiry and the post-mortem examination are scheduled to be conducted today (27).
Although the death resulted from burns, it has not yet been determined whether the incident involves foul play.
Police Headquarters stated that Bemmulla Police are conducting further investigations through several units to uncover the truth behind the incident.
