Questions regarding the ending of the Middle East war should be asked from the former American Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, by the current government led by the President, declares Samagi Jana Balawegaya Colombo District Member of Parliament Mujibur Rahman.
Participating in a press conference held today (12) at the Samagi Jana Balawegaya main office, Member of Parliament Mujibur Rahman declared this.
The Member of Parliament pointed out that because Julie Chung worked to bring the current President and the government into power, the date the Middle East war will stop should be inquired from her.
Expressing further ideas there, Mujibur Rahman also said this:
"Due to increasing fuel prices, the people of the country have fallen into great difficulty. Similarly, the prices of goods and services have also risen. Likewise, the country's inflation also has a possibility of rising accordingly. Also, due to the war situation created within the Gulf region, world fuel prices have risen. However, when there is a war atmosphere in the world, an increase in fuel prices is normal. That has happened before this as well.
Also, President Anura Dissanayake recently declared in Parliament that there is no necessity at all to increase fuel prices and that oil reserves exist. Also, the President declared that a fuel ship is arriving. Therefore, the President mentioned that there is no necessity at all to increase fuel prices. Also, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, D.J.A.S. de S. Rajakaruna, also declared that oil reserves exist within the country. But recently, the National People's Power government has acted to increase fuel prices by an excessive price. The government has increased the price of even kerosene, which is used by people who cannot even pay their electricity bills.
However, to justify the increase in fuel prices, the government's ministers tell various stories. Also, when a question regarding fuel is asked from the President, the President, without giving an answer to that question, asks another question back. From that, the old question goes under. President Anura Dissanayake follows the 'Flat Theory.' But Anura Dissanayake did not follow such theories during the time he was in the opposition.
Also, the President asks the ordinary people about the Middle East war. The President should ask about that from Julie Chung, who helped bring him into power, and from the President's new friend, Benjamin Netanyahu. They are the ones who know when the Middle East war will end. There is no use asking those things from the ordinary people of the country. However, the President should act to reduce the excessive tax burden he has placed on the people. But what is seen is that the President seems to be moaning.
Also, the current government behaves like a black market trader. Before fuel prices rose in the world market, the government acted to sell fuel stocks brought to Sri Lanka by increasing the price. The current National People's Power government follows the theory followed by black market traders. The government tries to suck the blood of the people. They distress the people without limit. Also, the current government has acted to collect taxes from the people of Sri Lanka by showing the Middle East war. Also, while the price of a barrel of oil in the world market had decreased, the government did not act to reduce fuel prices in the recent past. Also, the price of a barrel of oil in the world market increased recently and then decreased again. Even while such a situation exists, the government has not acted to reduce fuel prices.
Also, due to the war created in the Middle East, a severe pressure was aimed at the economy of Sri Lanka. But the government is acting to suck the blood of the people through the Middle East war as well. Also, the government recently declared that state income has increased. In such a situation, the government has acted to place an excessive tax burden on the people of the country. However, the government, through placing an excessive tax burden on fuel, is acting to make the multinational companies in the country rich. Also, through the fuel price increase, the government performed a fraudulent, treacherous act. Through this, the people fall into severe distress. People's sources of income have been lost. Purchasing power has decreased. In such a situation, increasing the price and selling old fuel stocks is an unapprovable criminal crime."
This was further declared by Member of Parliament Mujibur Rahman.
