The United Nations has declared March 21 as the International Day of Forests.
This year’s theme is "Forests and Food." To achieve the goals of this theme alongside Sri Lanka's Nationally Determined Contributions to UN climate change targets, the Forest Conservation Department plans to implement island-wide tree planting and awareness programs across all districts.
