The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development says that Lanka Sathosa has decided to reduce the prices of several essential consumer goods from tomorrow in a move aimed at providing relief to the public.
In a statement, the Ministry said the reduced-price items will be available at all Lanka Sathosa outlets islandwide from tomorrow (18).
Accordingly, the price reductions are as follows:
Large chickpeas: reduced by Rs. 5 per kg
White raw rice: reduced by Rs. 3 per kg
Ponni samba rice: reduced by Rs. 6 per kg
Red raw rice: reduced by Rs. 5 per kg
Samba red raw rice: reduced by Rs. 5 per kg
Wheat flour: reduced by Rs. 10 per kg
Local white Nadu rice: reduced by Rs. 5 per kg
White sugar: reduced by Rs. 2 per kg
White raw samba rice: reduced by Rs. 5 per kg
