JVP members have tainted themselves by covering up coal fraud

The 159 members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, who previously labelled all 225 parliamentarians as thieves, have proven themselves to be the same today, stated Samagi Jana Balawegaya Colombo District MP S.M. Marikkar while seconding the no-confidence motion in Parliament today (10).

Members of the Malima and the JVP have effectively smeared themselves with coal by attempting to hide the largest coal fraud in Sri Lanka’s history, the MP claimed.

This massive coal scam is an organised robbery, Marikkar further noted during his speech.

Reports suggest the Minister now claims the entire Cabinet approved this transaction.

Warnings were issued when the first three ships of low-quality coal arrived, yet those concerns were ignored and met with mudslinging.

Had the issue been addressed then, this situation would not have occurred, but the government had no desire to listen.

This country has lost Rs. 4,200 million from just five coal shipments.
