Auspicious time for anointing oil falls today

The auspicious time for anointing oil during this year's Sinhala and Tamil New Year falls today (15).

The oil anointing ceremony organised by Hiru TV takes place at the historic Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya. All arrangements are ready to hold the Surya Sinhale Hiru Avurudu Siritha oil anointing ceremony at the historic Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya at the auspicious time of 6:55 AM today.

This event is held under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya, Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thero. The auspicious sheet indicates that it is best to dress in green, face East, place Kohomba (Margosa) leaves on the head, and Kolon leaves under the feet, and bathe after applying oil and Nanu mixed with Kohomba leaf extracts. Meanwhile, the national oil anointing ceremony this year takes place at the Natha Devala within Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises in Kandy.
