A 54-year-old nursing officer attached to the Kamburupitiya Hospital died yesterday (15) evening after a large branch from a Milla tree fell onto his moving three-wheeler.
The Senior DIG’s Office of the Southern Province identified the deceased as Kodippilige Dharmasena, a resident of Wilpita, Akuressa.
The victim was traveling from Akuressa toward Kamburupitiya yesterday afternoon when the branch fell directly onto his vehicle.
Although he was rushed to the Kamburupitiya Hospital with severe injuries, he passed away during the night while receiving treatment.
The post-mortem examination of the deceased nursing officer is scheduled for today (16).
Akuressa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
