Heroin worth 4 billion rupees seized

Nearly 150 kilograms of heroin were discovered aboard the vessel brought to the Dikowita Fishing Port, according to Deputy Minister of Defense Aruna Jayasekara.

The value of the drug stock is estimated to be approximately 4 billion rupees.

The Navy found 150 packets containing heroin packed in 6 sacks aboard the vessel.

The multiday fishing vessel and 4 suspects, apprehended in the deep seas south of the island, were brought to the Dikowita Port this morning.

This local multiday fishing vessel was taken into custody during a special operation conducted by the Navy.
