Sri Lanka Cricket introduces strict new rules

New terms and conditions are being added to the player contract agreements by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Following the expiration of previous contracts on March 31, the revised national contract documents were handed over to the players.

These updates aim to protect the image of the country and the players while maintaining mental focus.

Restrictions and bans are now in place for contracted players and coaching staff regarding attire, language, social media activity, and sexual conduct.

The use of profanity is strictly prohibited for both players and staff, with the team manager granted the authority to impose fines for any violations.

Social media usage is also being regulated to prevent activities that breach team ethics or undermine team harmony.

Players are forbidden from using paid social media promotions to artificially boost or promote their personal images.

To maintain a professional appearance, wearing studs or other earrings during matches, training sessions, or tours is now banned.

New dress code limitations apply when visiting Sri Lanka Cricket premises, where players and staff are not permitted to meet officials while wearing shorts or slippers.

Furthermore, sexual activity during tournaments is restricted for players and coaching staff to prevent potential exploitation for match-fixing or the leaking of confidential team information.

Under these rules, involvement is only permitted with a legal spouse or partner, provided it does not interfere with professional responsibilities.
