Showers or thundershowers are expected in several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces, as well as the Nuwara Eliya district, after 1:00 p.m. today (18), according to a statement issued by the Department of Meteorology.
Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail across the rest of the island.
However, misty conditions may occur during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
The department urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
Furthermore, atmospheric conditions are expected to become favorable for evening thundershowers across most parts of the island starting from April 20.
