The five suspects, including the primary female suspect arrested for allegedly harassing a woman and cutting her hair at a shop in Ragama, are remanded until the 20th.
Ragama Police arrested the group yesterday (17) following the incident.
According to the Police Media Division, Ragama Police initiated action based on video footage circulating on social media.
After recording a statement from the victim, authorities referred her to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for medical examinations.
Those taken into custody include a 27-year-old woman from Ragama and four young men.
Police identified the male suspects as residents of Rajanganaya, Kadawatha, Ragama, and China Bay in Trincomalee, aged 20, 21, 22, and 23.
