Special bus and train services operate across all provinces today, April 19, to assist people returning to Colombo after the Sinhala and Tamil New Year holidays.
Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association President Gemunu Wijeratne urged passengers using long-distance services to reach bus stands as early as possible to avoid heavy congestion expected this afternoon.
Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission stated that raids are being conducted to identify buses charging fares above the regulated rates.
The Railway Department confirmed that special train services remain active throughout the day.
Normal train schedules will resume starting tomorrow.
