A homeowner set fire to a mother and daughter living on rent in his house before dying from injuries sustained in the blaze, police state. The father of the family remains in critical condition at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital after suffering severe injuries.
The deceased individuals include a 55-year-old woman, her 16-year-old daughter, and the 76-year-old homeowner. The injured father is 46 years old.
The father, mother, and daughter resided on the upper floor of the house on a rental basis and reportedly maintained a long-standing dispute with the owner who lived on the ground floor. Evidence suggests the owner carried out the killings as a result of this conflict. Petrol was discovered within the burnt house, and police confirm the building was set on fire using the fuel.
