Case against former president Ranil Wickremesinghe today

The case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe under the Public Property Act is scheduled to be recalled today (29). This proceeding takes place at the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.

The complaint alleges that government funds were misappropriated to facilitate a trip to London for the graduation ceremony of Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe during the time Ranil Wickremesinghe held the presidency.

Criminal Investigation Department officers recorded a four-hour statement from Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe regarding this case on April 24. This statement was taken at their residence.
