Sri Lanka welcomed 117,893 international visitors this month as of the 26th of April, reflecting a decline in performance compared to the same period last year, latest data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority shows.
India maintained its position as the top source market with 35,862 tourists, representing 30% of the total monthly intake. Other significant contributions came from the United Kingdom with 9,585 arrivals, Australia with 9,142, China with 8,543, and Russia with 6,172 visitors.
These figures contrast with April 2025, when the island saw a higher influx of 174,608 tourists.
The total number of arrivals for 2026 now stands at 858,527. India continues to lead the year-to-date rankings with 183,135 visitors, while the United Kingdom and Russia follow with 88,005 and 72,090 tourists, respectively.
