Severe lightning warning issued for several provinces

Severe lightning alongside thundershowers may occur in parts of the Northern, North-Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, and Uva provinces after 1:00 pm today.

The Department of Meteorology issued this cautionary notice to alert the public of the developing weather conditions.

Additionally, showers are expected during the afternoon in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces.

The department further noted that rainfall will likely affect the Polonnaruwa, Galle, and Matara districts as well.
