Wimal Weerawansa questions Treasury payment process

Leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna Wimal Weerawansa stated that no Treasury payments can be authorised without the approval of the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.

He said that, under existing procedures, an additional director would not be able to make such payments.

He made these remarks at a press briefing held in Colombo on May 2, while commenting on an incident involving the disappearance of US$ 2.5 million from the Treasury.
