Schoolchildren hospitalised after van veers off road

Thirteen schoolchildren were admitted to the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital after a van transporting students from Kataboola to Harangala veered off the road near the Tispane Junction in Nawalapitiya today at approximately 7:00 am.

Nawalapitiya Police state that the group includes eleven female students and two male students between the ages of 7 and 10.

The driver of the van was also hospitalised following the incident.

Nawalapitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
