A police constable attached to the Payagala Police Station left his uniform at the station and walked out after recording a note in the Information Book (IB) regarding severe mental stress.
Officer Malindu Dilhara, badge number 107821, made the entry yesterday (05), stating that an excessive workload led to his current mental state.
Payagala Police confirmed the officer left his uniform and related equipment behind before departing.
The 26-year-old resident of Idipalegoda, Pitigala, joined the police force on June 8, 2025, and reported for duty at the Payagala station on January 21.
A special investigation is underway to determine the exact causes of his stress and to locate his current whereabouts.
