A mother and her son died following a collision between a lorry and a three-wheeler in the Pathakada Junction area on the Ratnapura-Pelmadulla road.
Police identified the victims as residents of Hali-Ela, noting the mother was 49 years old and her son was 28.
The three-wheeler driver sustained serious injuries and currently receives treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital.
Pelmadulla Police arrested the driver and the assistant of the lorry in connection with the incident.
