A gang of ten robbers, including six women, entered a business premises armed with sharp weapons and iron bars, assaulted employees, and fled with over 1.3 million rupees, according to Dehiwala Police.
Police state that around 6:30 pm on the 4th, an unknown man and woman entered the shop claiming to buy a television and handed 45,000 rupees to the cashier.
While the television was being checked for delivery, the pair started an argument with staff claiming a delay, took their money back, and left the premises.
Police investigations reveal that a short time later, the man and woman returned with several other individuals, assaulted the employees, and robbed 1,309,000 rupees kept in a bag.
The group of robbers reportedly fled on foot along the railway tracks.
Police confirm that the activities of the robbers were recorded on CCTV cameras.
Dehiwala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
