The 48-year-old resident of Ragama, Batuwatta, was apprehended by security forces in Azerbaijan on the 7th of last month.
Authorities identify him as a key figure in organised crime and narcotics distribution.
Following his arrest abroad, he was brought back to the island to face legal proceedings.
