Detention orders sought for 'Batuwatte Chamara'

Detention orders are expected for Manoj Suranga Liyanage, also known as "Batuwatte Chamara," an alleged organised criminal and drug trafficker recently extradited from Azerbaijan.

The suspect faces numerous allegations regarding high-profile crimes committed within Sri Lanka.

The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) is leading further investigations into his activities.

The 48-year-old resident of Ragama, Batuwatta, was apprehended by security forces in Azerbaijan on the 7th of last month.

Authorities identify him as a key figure in organised crime and narcotics distribution.

Following his arrest abroad, he was brought back to the island to face legal proceedings.
