The National Building Research Institute extended level two landslide warnings to several additional districts due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions. While Passara in the Badulla district previously received level two warnings, the organisation now issued similar alerts for Neluwa in the Galle district and several areas in the Kalutara district, including Agalawatta, Bulathsinhala, Matugama, Horana, and Walallawita.
Furthermore, level two warnings remain active for the Pasbage Korale, Yatinuwara, Udapalatha, Pathahewaheta, Panvila, Ganga Ihala Korale, Gangawata Korale, and Akurana Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Kandy district. The Ratnapura and Pelmadulla Divisional Secretariat divisions within the Ratnapura district also fall under these level two landslide alerts.
Meanwhile, the police advised drivers to remain vigilant when travelling on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road and surrounding byways, as thick mist prevailed in these areas since early this morning.
