A "red" (risk) warning was issued by the Department of Meteorology due to heavy rainfall affecting several areas of the island.
According to the notice, heavy showers exceeding 150 mm are predicted in certain places within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as parts of the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
The department further urges the public to remain highly vigilant regarding the risks of floods and landslides that may occur alongside the heavy rains.
