The united opposition led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya won the election to appoint members to the Medawachchiya Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, securing 66 member seats.
The National People's Power was only able to secure 52 member seats.
The election took place yesterday (17), and a total of 120 member seats were scheduled to be selected.
Meanwhile, the voting at one polling station, which was meant to select two member seats, was abandoned due to the lack of a quorum.
Our correspondent stated that this voting was conducted at 20 centres within the Medawachchiya Divisional Secretariat Division.
